The Association’s Executive Negotiating Committee met this week in Washington, D.C. with members of the National Mediation Board and representatives from the carrier.
Limited progress was made this week, and that is encouraging.

Negotiations continued in Washington, D.C. this week, with little movement from the company being made towards completed tentative agreements. In light of the unfortunate lack of progress, the Executive Committee is considering next steps and an appropriate response.

Since the resumption of mediated negotiations between the Association and American Airlines on September 16, the parties have met multiple days over five weekly sessions. Although progress has been slow, it has been positive and productive.

Attention: An election will be conducted for the position of TWU Local 591 Shop Stewards at the following TWU Local 591 Stations: ATL, AUS, BOS, DCA, DEN, DFW/GSW, EWR, IAH, JFK, LAS, LAX, LGA, MCO, MIA, ORD, PHL, PHX, RDU, SAN, SAT, SEA, SFO, SJU, STL, TPA.
Sometimes our jobs and our personal lives can get a little stressful. We have an Employee Assistance Program that can help not only with stress but also with many other problems that life may bring to us.
The EAP is a consultation, information and referral service available for our members and their family. Our services are free, voluntary, and confidential.
Local 591 would like to welcome David SanMiguel to the position of DFW EAP Peer Coordinator. David was appointed after the EAP Committee reviewed several applicants for this position.
Job Description – Volunteer EAP Peer Coordinator
The Peer Coordinator advocates for the use of the Members Assistance Program by providing information to employees, their families, union representatives; and management as requested by the member. The Peer Coordinator also communicates regularly with the appropriate Regional Coordinator.
The Peer Coordinator provides support and encourages the employee to accept and follow through on Members Assistance Program/EAP recommendations.
The Peer Coordinator must understand the importance of confidentiality.
The Peer Coordinator will support the employee in the return to work process.
A basic understanding of employee benefits is required.
