The disturbing incident in Miami has been an unwelcomed blackeye to both our profession, and our never-ending commitment to safety. As President of Local 591, I want to start by stating that I absolutely condemn the acts that have been reported.

The TWU/IAM Association condemns, in the strongest possible terms, any conduct by any individual that jeopardizes the safe operation of an aircraft. Safety is the number one priority for our IAM and TWU members involved in the maintenance and operation of aircraft. These members are the most highly trained safety professionals in the airline industry.
TWU-IAM Association Contract Talks with American to Resume
WASHINGTON, Sept. 4, 2019 — The TWU-IAM Association today announced that mediation for negotiations in the American Airlines/TWU-IAM Association contract talks will restart on Monday, Sept. 16, at 1 p.m. ET and continue through Thursday, Sept. 19. The sessions will be held in Washington, D.C.

Attention: An election will be conducted for the position of TWU Local 591 Regional Chairperson, Station Chairperson and Section Chairperson. Please note: All election times will be in Central Daylight Time (CDT).
Sometimes our jobs and our personal lives can get a little stressful. We have an Employee Assistance Program that can help not only with stress but also with many other problems that life may bring to us.
The EAP is a consultation, information and referral service available for our members and their family. Our services are free, voluntary, and confidential.
Local 591 would like to welcome David SanMiguel to the position of DFW EAP Peer Coordinator. David was appointed after the EAP Committee reviewed several applicants for this position.
Job Description – Volunteer EAP Peer Coordinator
The Peer Coordinator advocates for the use of the Members Assistance Program by providing information to employees, their families, union representatives; and management as requested by the member. The Peer Coordinator also communicates regularly with the appropriate Regional Coordinator.
The Peer Coordinator provides support and encourages the employee to accept and follow through on Members Assistance Program/EAP recommendations.
The Peer Coordinator must understand the importance of confidentiality.
The Peer Coordinator will support the employee in the return to work process.
A basic understanding of employee benefits is required.
