To the Membership of Local 591:
I am writing to give you a quick update on the upcoming protests and pickets being scheduled around the system.
These protests are focused on highlighting to the flying public the company’s continued refusal to live up to their promises of the best contract in the industry, along with making the flying public more aware of the company demand to increase the outsourcing of our work.
Our first protest is scheduled at DFW Airport on Tuesday, October 23rd at 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The timeframe for this protest was chosen because it is just two days before the company 3rd quarter earnings report and State of the Airline Townhall. The DFW protest will be supported by all of the unions at American, which includes the IAM, APA, APFA, CWA-IBT-Association and the TWU.
I will keep you updated as I receive more details on this and other planned future protests. I ask you to plan on attending to show your support for the Unions fighting to protect all of our jobs.
Additionally, the APFA is planning on a system-wide picket on November 18th as they continue protesting of the language injustices in their JCBA that were imposed upon them by an arbitrator. November 18th is also the 25th anniversary of the last APFA strike on American. I ask the membership to support their pickets, as the APFA has supported ours.
Fraternally,
Gary Schaible
TWU Local 591 President
