DFW MLS Co-Section Chairperson Notification Letter

Recently, an election protest was submitted to the Local 591 Executive Board regarding a candidate eligibility issue within the Southwest Region for the DFW MLS Section Chairperson position. Upon review, this Executive Board determined that an error did in fact occur in that election regarding the eligibility determination of one of the candidates.

After being appealed to the TWU International for interpretation, this Executive Board has unanimously accepted the recommendation of the TWU International and their legal guidance on this issue. Based upon that TWU International guidance, this Executive Board has adopted that recommendation, on a one-time non-precedential basis, to establish two co-Chairpersons for the Southwest Region DFW MLS Section Chairperson position for the remainder of the current term. D.J. Jimenez will serve in one of these co-Chairperson positions, with the winner of the current election servings in the other co-Chairperson position.

This one-time Southwest Region DFW MLS Section Co-Chairperson position will end either at the end of the current 2022-2025 term, or removal/resignation of one of the two co-Chairpersons prior to the end of this term, whichever occurs first, and will subsequently revert to an individual Section Chairperson position.

Steps are already being taken by the Local 591 Executive Board to ensure this type of election error does not repeat moving forward.
