YouTube Explanation of Bylaw change proposal from President Schaible

A Local 591 Bylaws Amendment to Article IX, Section 5 was submitted by Local 591 President Gary Schaible.
This proposal was unanimously supported by your Local 591 Executive Board. The Board fully recognizes the significantly greater work and time expectations for the five Local 591 Coordinator positions from when the Local was first chartered.
In addition, your Local 591 Coordinators, like your Officers and Executive Board Members, are restricted from working any overtime, working any field trips, working any holidays, or working swaps to gain additional income.
The raise, as President Schaible stated during the December National Membership Meetings, “is intended to right a wrong, and to recognize the extraordinary number of hours our five Coordinators put forth for our Membership. Your Coordinators put in far more time, not just during their ‘regular’ hours, that they are not compensated for.”
The current January 2026 salary for a Local 591 Coordinator is $866.62 a month. This proposed Bylaw change, if it is affirmed by the Local Membership, would move their salary to $1,500 a month.
